Description

This stunning yacht was originally built as a 104' four-stateroom luxury yacht for the Board of Directors of Allied Signal Corporation (Ex: Allaince). Many improvements and siginificant upgrades enhanced the yacht's performance. Numerous thoughtful interior and exterior modifications were also made in consultation with the staff of designers and fabricators at the Denison yard. The four-cabin layout was modified to create a full-beam Master Stateroom that features an abundance of closets and cabinets to store the clothing and personal effects needed on an extended cruise. To complete the appeal of the Master Stateroom a host of amenities were added including his and hers en suite heads crafted in marble and trimmed with gold fixtures. In this same period exotic burled hardwood joinery was added to the octagonal foyer that adjoins the Owner's Party accommodations and is echoed discreetly throughout the Salon and the Dining area on the Main Deck completing the sense of luxury and elegance aboard the yacht. The design of the 17-foot aft extension dramatically improved the lines of the yacht and gave her a graceful classic sweep from bow to stern. The enormous teak cockpit area also added plenty of room for sunbathing, alfresco dinners and parties not to mention water sports from game fishing and diving, to swimming and snorkeling. A cavernous freezer, a wet bar, and a professional grade cooking grill were installed along the forward end while at the aft end two large transom doors open to the teak swim platform which permits easy access to guests boarding to and from the yacht's tenders. The design of the cockpit further called for three hydraulically lifted hatches to be installed that would raise open to allow for servicing of three gensets that would provide more than enough power for the yacht on an extended cruise. The gensets were installed side-by-side across the beam of the yacht under the teak cockpit sole in soundproof boxes that protect each unit and reduce the noise level of the machinery. To complete the up-grade of the yacht some other important technical considerations were also addressed. Additional fuel and water tanks were installed to increase the cruising range and comfort of the yacht. A ship-quality fuel transfer pumping and filtration system was installed to provide additional stability, balance and smooth performance of the vessel whether at the dock or while underway. A highly sophisticated electronic shipboard systems monitoring panel of a variety more typically found aboard ocean-going ships was installed in both the pilothouse and the engine room to provide current data on key components of the vessel while underway. The present ownership acquired the yacht in 1999 and recognizing the many exceptional components of the yacht that set it above the fleet of sister ships from this builder's family it was determined that it would be worthwhile to take the time and spend the money necessary to bring this yacht back to first-class condition. Beginning in fall of 1999 the vessel was treated to a lavish and expensive, comprehensive period of refit and upgrade of a level well beyond any maintenance and service work the yacht had enjoyed in the intervening ten years of light use and magnanimous ownership (Bernie Ebbers, Ex: Acquasition and Sun Holdings, Ex: Sunchaser) since the reconfiguration. A two-year refit project that addressed virtually every aspect of the yacht's structure, systems, machinery, accommodations (Ownership & Crew) and interior & exterior cosmetics has now been carried out and moreover the process of upgrades has continued in an additional two-year planned maintenance program that finds the vessel once more in superior condition. For anyone seeking a yacht of exceptional style and grace M/Y NEWS represents a unique opportunity to enjoy a measure of luxury and elegance that only her few distinguished owners were able to claim for a brief time as their own standard of personal excellence.
