Cabo Rico Yachts has a history that stands alone in the yachting industry. Years ago, the idea for Cabo Rico was born in a San Jose, Costa Rica assembly plant for British Leland Motors. John Schofield, a yachter, admired the talent and hard work that was shown by the Costa Rican people. Today, Costa Rican workers continue to produce boats for Cabo Rico, using plantation-grown teakwood, and Cabo Rico has its headquarters and a staff in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cabo Rico builds two lines of sailboats: cruising sailboats from 73 feet to 49 feet in overall length, and Cambria cruising/racing sailboats from the Cambria 40 to Cambria 52. The Cabo Rico models offer a pilothouse version and a center cockpit version. Sailing Magazine named the Cabo Rico 42 as one of the top 10 sailboats in the world.
