This unique gaff rigged cutter was originally
built in Germany in 1937 as a typical shrimper by the well known
Bieritz shipyard. She was constructed of oak on oak with mast and spars
of douglas pine, and was powered by sails and a small diesel engine. In
1978 she was converted for private use and a 150 hp Deutz Diesel engine
was installed. In 2002 she was totally refitted and furnished for
circumnavigation by the well known Danish shipyard of Christian
Johnson. Every piece of wood above the waterline and almost half of
what is below the waterline was replaced with high quality northern
oak, douglas pine and pitch pine. Below the waterline the complete hull
is planked with copper as a protection against worms. She has just
undergone rigorous maintenance. She is a real beauty in very good
condition!
