A classic Robert Clark design from the early '70's, when she was launched,'Whitbread' was the largest fiberglass boat ever built! Strongly constructed with steel stringers embedded within the fiberglass hull, 'Whitebread' was built in the UK at Penryn, Falmouth, and has had a major upgrade in 2000 with a new engine, all electronics and navigation systems replaced, plus the addition of a new bow thruster, and many more upgrades as well (see full specifications).
With her tall, high aspect ketch rig, classic lines and well-organized deck arrangements, 'Whitbread' says 'circumnavigator' to me! As a fan and user of the ketch rig myself, I can tell you that this setup allows for a variety of sail combinations to suit the weather conditions that are simply unavailable to sloops or cutters, and as such, is really preferable for long-distance voyaging. If you are looking for a true blue water yacht that can really go the distance, I think you will be very hard-pressed to find a better choice than 'Whitbread!!' Please have a look at the full specifications and photos for more details, and note that aditional photos are on their way soon!
